JULY 30, 2014
STALAG-X, the graphic novel by Kevin J. Anderson is being published next month. If you have read through the entries here, you'll see this project has been in existence for years and years. At the moment, the graphic novel will consist of six digital issues, downloadable one per month starting in August, 2014. After that, it will be once a month. However, the first three issues will be assembled in a hardbound volume set, available at selected stores, in October. More info on that as it becomes available. The current website is available by clicking here, although it needs updating. Best to go to my facebook fanpage.
STALAG-X is also in the process of being pursued as a Television and/or Film property by more than one production company. This is currently in the works and I'll have more to post on that when decisions are made.
VilleAnne is a new novel series written by myself and Peter J. Wacks. It is being published by Wordfire Press and will be out in a few months. There will be a special hardbound "Blood Cover" limited edition, but the regular editions will be available soon afterwards. VilleAnne; Anne's Fall, is the first of a three volume set, which will created a universe where other stories, novels, and anthologies will be set. You can read a bit about it by clicking here.
My non-fiction book, presently titled THE NON-USER-FRIENDLY GUIDE FOR ASPIRING TELEVISION WRITERS; ADVICE AND EXPERIENCE FROM THE TRENCHES has been submitted to the publisher (again, Wordfire Press) and is going through the editing process. No set release date, but this is a "book" that the publisher has been trying to get me to release for years. It is, as titled, a book of advice based on my experiences in Television. I describe it as if you took me to lunch to pick at my brain, so to speak.
As a result of all this authorship stuff, I have been encouraged to activate my facebook fanpage. Many of the updates on my career will be posted there first. To find it, just click here.
SEPTEMBER, 2009 thru JULY, 2014
What's new? Well, this entry, for one. As you can see, it's been a long time since I've updated this page. Part of that (actually, all of that) is because the effort to change these pages was an involved and complicated process. A result of software (fifteen years old!) and having the website pages kept on an older computer (running Windows 2000, upgraded from ME).
But, now, I have it all sorted out. And hopefully, I'll be able to keep up the changes.
SEPTEMBER 25, 2009
I've finally posted the photos from the 2009 Los Angeles Xena Convention! They can be found here.
I continue with my work on the three pilots for The Cookie Jar Company. These things take time, but I've started meeting with networks in hopes of selling one or more of them soon.
And, it appears, I will be appearing at the 2010 los Angeles Xena Convention as well. Good times! More information can be found on the Creation Entertainment website.
MAY 31, 2009
I have been contracted to do three pilots for The Cookie Jar Company. Unfortunately, I cannot talk about them just yet due to confidentiality agreements. I can say these are two animated series pilots and one live action pilot with a fantastic company. None of the projects have a network as of yet, but the bibles and outlines have been written and we are making the rounds now. A quick publicity blurb can be found here.
I continue to be creatively involved with Artists Inc. as a consultant and I'm still developing possible projects with them.
I will be attending Comic-Con and Anime-Expo this year, but only as a visitor, not appearing as a guest.
NOVEMBER 12, 2008
I will be appearing at the 2009 Xena convention at the Los Angeles Marriott at Los Angeles International Airport. The official information is at the Creation Entertainment website.
JANUARY 28, 2008
A new year and, so far, a busy one. The Xena Picket day was a huge success. And, following that, the Xena Convention in Burbank had a great turnout. Photos will be posted soon.
I also officially announced that I will be working with Terry Moore to bring his amazing Graphic Novel, "Strangers In Paradise" to television. I am incredibly flattered that Terry asked me to join him in this venture and I'm sure to writing more about it later.
"Stalag-X", the graphic novel Kevin J. Anderson and I have been laboring over for the longest time is showing signs of life again.
My script, "The Gift of the Hoopoe", written for Artists, Inc. is now in production. It is a short animated feature which probably will not be seen in the United States. It is directed by the legendary animation director Don Bluth. I enjoyed working with him, what an amazing man.
The WGA strike continues (and, no, my script for Artists, Inc. was not in violation, I made darn sure with the WGA) so I continue to picket at various locations, mostly at the Buena Vista gate of Disney Studios.
It is official; I will be appearing at the London Xena Convention, May 2-4, 2008. Hopefully, I'll get a little time to visit the city as well.
NOVEMBER 19, 2007
Apparently, I will be a guest appearing at the 2008 Xena convention in Burbank, Ca. The official announcement will be forthcoming from Creation Entertainment.
NOVEMBER 9, 2007
As many of you probably know, the Writer's Guild of America has gone on strike. As a member of the WGA, I have been walking the picket lines most of the days and will continue to do so. As usual, I take my camera. The link to the photos is in the photo section. Some celebrities show up to give support to the WGA as the issues are also ones that the Screen Actors Guild will be facing next year.
Obviously, there is nothing I can report on a professional level. Except that my social calendar has really opened up.
OCTOBER 24, 2007
I've added the photos for the Chicago Xena Convention and Lucy's Chicago Concert. You can get to them through the Xena convention page.
AUGUST 29, 2007
I've added the photos from Lucy's concert from the New Jersey Xena Convention to the Xena convention page. Actually, I had done that a while back, but finally got around to mentioning it now. The photos from the Canal Room are located here.
There are additions to the "Appearances" page.
JUNE 12, 2007
I've added the photos from the New Jersey Xena Convention to the Xena convention page. The concert photos from Lucy's concert at the Canal Room are forthcoming (there are thousands I'm going through...)
APRIL 20, 2007
As was announced on the Creation Website, I will be appearing at the New York (actually New Jersey) Xena convention June 1-3, 2007. Details can be found here. I don't yet know any of the details, but the schedule will be posted at the Creation site a week or so before the actual con. This is the first East Coast Xena convention in the last seven years or so. Should be a great opportunity to meet fans who haven't been able to make it out to the regular cons in Burbank.
Of course, this appearance will be pending my schedule. There is something in the works which has not solidified, which could throw a wrench into things. At the moment, though, I don't anticipate a conflict. Hopefully I'll be able to make an announcement soon.
FEBRUARY 2, 2007
Lucy's concert photos are up!
JANUARY 29, 2007
The photos from the 2007 Burbank Xena Convention have been posted. I was trying some new things on a technical level, so many of the photos are more of a dark moody style. But I got a lot of photos so there should be something for everyone. The concert photos will be coming soon.
JANUARY 26, 2007
The 2007 Xena convention is over. A great time was had by all (except, perhaps, the bartender and waitresses in the hotel). I've written a "blog" about it which can be found here.
I've been asked when I'm going to post my photos of the convention. This year, I took literally thousands of photos, over 1100 of Lucy's concerts alone. And this year, I tried something new with my photography, so I'm having to go through all those photos to try and get the ones that I will post. I couldn't possibly post them all.
As to the photos of Lucy's concert, I will be posting those, but not for a while. In the meantime, keep an eye on Lucy's website, she'll be posting some of them there. And there are so many good photos of that concert already on the internet that waiting for mine shouldn't be a major deal.
I want to thank everyone who bid for the charity auctions at the convention. I really appreciate your kindness.
By the way, one of the winners of my photoset needs to contact me. I have the center photo which was promised, but I couldn't find you at the end of the convention. So just contact me here with the description of the item and the center photo (for verification) and I'll get it to you.
Some other things are in the works. Once I can talk about them, I will. If they don't happen... you'll never know!
JANUARY 10, 2007
Whoa... 2007 is here already... who saw that coming? Updates are as follows: I will be making my appearance at the Xena Convention on Friday, January 12, at 3 p.m. But you can find me the entire weekend wandering around, taking photos. To that end, a new series of photos will be sold at this convention, a collection of my convention photos in a particular format. To get an idea of what those photos will look like, click here for MaryD's website.
I have also posted a page on the scholarship I endowed. Take a look at it, but note that the important message here is not just to give to my scholarship, but just to GIVE! Find a cause and do some good!
I hope everyone had great holidays!
DECEMBER 13, 2006
It is official, I will be appearing at the Burbank Xena convention as a guest. I'll also be running around doing my usual photography. I don't have a schedule as of when I will actually be on stage, but the Creation Entertainment site should be announcing the schedule soon.
As to what, exactly, I will be doing on stage... I have no idea. I don't usually plan these things out. But if anyone has as suggestion or question they'd like me the answer onstage, send me a note.
In December, the Entertainment business tends to shut down. In the meantime, I'm trying to catch up with some things, both domestic and professional. So nothing to report except to wish everyone happy holidays!
NOVEMBER 26, 2006
So, I just got back from Tallahassee, Florida, where I was honored as a "Grad Made Good" for Florida State University. The full details can be found here, along with photos. It was quite an amazing experience. Still, I'm glad to be back now and ready to dive into some work.
Just before I left for Tallahassee, my dog, Cubbie, passed away. I had lost his mate, Daphne, a while back. For those who understand what it's like to have pets as companions, I don't need to say more. For those who don't know, it would be hard to explain. I won't go into details, but I wasn't in the mood to socialize much, so I withdrew for a while. For those who wondered what happened to me.
AUGUST 22, 2006
The first "new" thing is the new format for this page. Actually, just the Theme of the page. No reason, just got tired of the old one.
Okay, a few things to talk about. First, the usual disclaimers. I'm not someone who posts possibilities. By that, I mean go into any Hollywood restaurant and ask a waiter if they have anything going on. Most likely, you'll hear a litany of job prospects, possible script sales, castings, auditions, etc. etc. etc. which will make it sound as if that person works non-stop in Film/TV, but, apparently, waits tables because it's a chance to relax from the hustle and bustle. I'm not quite like that. If it isn't a definite thing (usually denoted by a contract, commitment and/or paycheck) I'm not going to go on about "possibilities."
I do, occasionally, make appearances to teach or speak for classes or organizations. I have been asked to post those upcoming appearances, so I'm going to try to keep it up to date.
Kevin J. Anderson and I are writing issues of STALAG-X, the often mention Graphic Novel series. Or, at least, I think I've mentioned it before... maybe not. Well, anyway, Kevin and I are writing a six issue Graphic Novel for the Dabel Brothers Publishing entitled STALAG-X, a futuristic Sci-Fi series. The publication date of the first issue is tentatively scheduled for March of 2007.
I am currently in development with Artists, Inc. and Just Cause, Inc. on a live action TV series called "Code Runners". We are in the pitching stage with production companies, studios and the networks. More when things become more solid.
I have been doing blogs for a while on (of all places) myspace. Those blogs are located here for the time being. I will probably be relocating them to this website in the future, but for now, it's easier to post them on myspace. Don't look for anything amazing, it's mostly just musings on the world around me and the occasional soapbox ranting.
That's it for now!
APRIL 17, 2006
FEBRUARY 25, 2006
I've gotten around to posting some photos from the 2006 Xena Convention in Burbank. You can find the link on the Xena page.
NOVEMBER 28, 2005
Okay, time for an update. Not to announce anything in particular, but just to keep you up with things. I will be appearing at the January Xena Convention in Burbank, California (what a surprise!). As usual, I have no idea what I'll talk about at this point, but I'll come up with something.
At the moment, I see the world in two dimensions. Sounds philosophical but, in fact, it's because I have developed an infection of my right iris. For the last week, I've had to deal with extreme pain as a result of light, focus and pressure... basically anything that involves my pupil. Even the pressure of my eyelid on the cornea is enough. Major ouch. My doctor has me using eyedrops and promises me that it will eventually go away, but what a pain. Makes it a bit more difficult to type, so I apologize for any typos.
Although I'm not currently working on a TV series, I have been writing a lot. I've decided to devote this down time to writing screenplays. The two I've finished are quite different from each other and one of them has been called "too dark" for the public. Can't say I disagree with that criticism as the villain is a child murderer. I'm up in the air as to the next screenplay I'll be starting. Perhaps a comedy... nah, I'm not funny enough. But I am dark enough apparently...
I've also been asked if I would be interested in teaching a class for the UCLA extension screenwriting department. If that comes to be, it won't be until next year. I'll announce it here if I do.
And, finally, I will be doing my civic duty this month on jury duty. And, no, I won't be looking for stories to tell. Then again, if one comes my way.... ;)
I hope everyone had a great holiday and I hope the coming month brings you more joy. Just remember those who aren't as fortunate. Keep them in mind when you are in the mall and shopping. A little bit of effort means much more than you think.
See you next year!
SEPTEMBER 1, 2005
There's no way I can update you on my life while the news is filled with the results of Hurricane Katrina. The only update I have is to ask you to click here and do what you can.
JUNE 10, 2005
Halfway through the year already. I recently attended the Strong Women of Xena convention in Seattle, Washington. Quite a small and intimate setting, but quite fun. I will be appearing at the Knightstar Writing Convention in Las Vegas, this coming July 14-17th. If you're in and around Las Vegas at the time, send me a note to say "hi!"
And, as an acknowledgement of how time flies, I will be attending my High School Reunion in August. I'll be in Florida from this coming August 2-12.
On the work side, I continue to write. I've completed a few more spec pilot scripts and have now turned my energy toward a screenplay or two. But, as usual, with things in the works, I tend to keep quiet about them until they actually come to fruition.
JANUARY 26, 2005
The 10th Anniversary Xena Convention was a huge success! Well, at least I enjoyed it. As usual, I took photos of the convention. Unfortunately, they were only posted for half a day when I had a technical glitch. You can read about it on the page. There is also a section on the musical puppet play "Puppetry of the Xena" which is still up and working.
Thanks to all who stopped by to say "hi" to me. And I'll see you next year.
JANUARY 18, 2005
Happy New Year!
The 10th Anniversary Xena Convention is coming up this weekend, January 21-23, 2005. I will be appearing, so if you are coming, be sure to say "hi."
Also, I'll be auctioning off some original artwork at the convention. You can see the work here. As most of you know, photography is my hobby, so I thought I'd put it to good use.
For those who have been asking, I did (barely) survive the winter storms recently. Some damage done to the house and I had a bit of an accident skiing and another on the stairs of my backyard. But I'm up and around now and, besides, five minutes of watching the news and I realize I've got a pretty good life.
As for business, nothing solid to report yet. This isn't unusual, it's just the way the business is. I do have a couple of things on the burner but, as you know, it's not my nature to talk about things until they are realities. Until then, it's just talk.
AUGUST 22, 2004
Added the photo section for Camp Jeep. Added a new section called "conventions" to hold... well, my convention photos.
JULY 25, 2004
Added the photo album of the 2004 San Diego Comic-Con.
Kevin J. Anderson and I continue to consider projects we might work on together including a possible comic series or graphic novel. As many of you may know, Kevin's career has taken off (or continues to take off) with a new series of books and obligations.
Chip Chalmers, Jeffery Willerth (Erthbound Entertainment) and I are actively developing a documentary on the Fender Stratocaster's 50th anniversary with the complete support of the Fender company.
The fourth season Xena DVD collection has just been released. I am also on this set (as well as the other seasons released so far) doing commentary and interview (don't buy them just for that!). And, yes, I will be attending the 10th anniversary Xena convention in Burbank. More on this as it becomes available.
And, finally, no, the rumor isn't true: I did NOT get married!
MAY 6, 2004
Updated new Agency information.
I have recently contracted my photos of Renee O'Connor's performance at the 2004 Xena convention to Creation Entertainment. Select photos may be available through Creation soon, for those looking for higher quality versions of them.
FEBRUARY 3, 2004
The Xena Album has been rearranged and the photos from the 2004 convention have been added.
The Xena Convention was a success. A lot of money was raised for the charities (thanks to the kind and generous Xena fans!). I enjoyed the Writing Seminar and hope that those attending got something out of it. See you all next year!
JANUARY 26, 2004
A very nice auction has been set up for charity. Instead of me speaking on it, follow this link to Color Me Caring and see what it's all about. There's even something there from me!
JANUARY 20, 2004
The Xena Writing seminar has been solidified. I will be teaching the first two hours, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday morning. Katherine will take over and teach from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Information for this can be found at the Creation Website or, for more details on the actual class, on my own Writing Class page.
I'll be on stage Saturday night. Lord knows what I'll talk about! And, as usual, I'll be hanging around if anyone wants to stop by and say "hi".
Kevin Anderson and I continue our association, developing some ideas for Television and meeting with studios. When there is something new to report, I'll make sure to do an update here.
The third season Xena DVD collections should be out very soon, if not already. There are several interviews with me as well as other behind the scenes people on the show. I also do a commentary on one of the episodes. I've been asked to do more for the fourth season collection as well.
DECEMBER 10, 2003
More photos have been added to the SHEENA section.
Some of the details on the Writer's Workshop for the upcoming Xena convention in Burbank are becoming more clear. At the moment, it is set for the morning of Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This class will be broken up into two two-hour sections; one taught by myself and the other by Katherine Fugate. We have yet to set who is teaching the first shift.
For those who might be attending, obviously there is no way to teach twenty years of experience in just two hours. However, I hope to give a good overview and solid starting point for those interested in pursuing a writing career in television. You should be warned that I'm not going to pull any punches about negatives and positives of this business. And it's not going to be Xena-centric, which is to say that even though I may reference Xena in the class, this will be about writing across a broad spectrum. I think we'll have fun! Details about signing up can be found on the Creation Entertainment website.
OCTOBER 2, 2003
I have been asked to appear at the Xena Convention on January 30 - February 1, 2004 in Burbank where it looks like I'll be teaching a Writer's Workshop. Details will appear here and on the Creation Entertainment website as soon as they are set.
On a side note, for those who have e-mailed me asking if I really fell off a cliff, the answer is yes. Minor injuries and, obviously, I'm fine. Thanks for the concern. I do not blame the cliff.
SEPTEMBER 19, 2003
I'm currently writing a second S.H.E. Spies script entitled "Family Reunion".
I have just finished on-camera interviews and commentary for the Third Season Xena DVD collection.
I will be appearing in an episode of a new Bravo Series entitled "Television Revolution", which is a documentary series about significant events in television history.
As always, I am developing new ideas and series proposals. I'm not one to give details until the meetings are over and the work begins, so I can't be more specific than that.
Various new photos have been added to the photo pages.
JULY 3, 2003
It's been a while since my last update. So let's catch up a bit.
At the beginning of April, I received a call from Creation Entertainment asking me if I would fill in on a Xena event in the next few days. The event turned out to be a seven day cruise through the Caribbean. Needless to say, I accepted the invitation. It was on the Norwegian Dawn, which carries three thousand passengers. 160 of those passengers were Xena fans. We had a great time and photos of the event can be found in the photo section here.
I recently wrote an episode of S.H.E. Spies entitled "Opposites Attract".
I have posted the original SHEENA Writers/Directors guide. This was written early in the development of the series, so fans of the series will notice many things that changed before we started shooting.
I will be attending the San Diego Comic-Con from July 17- 20. I won't be a featured guest, just a visitor, wandering around. I will not be attending DragonCon this year, however.
FEBRUARY 15, 2003
As many of you might expect, I attended the Pasadena Xena Convention last weekend. It was quite an event, some of which you can see in the photo section. Thanks to all my friends for showing up. A great time was had by all.
Added Xena photo page. Also added more photos to the SHEENA photo page.
JANUARY 14, 2003
Changed tree structure to site. Added SHEENA photo page.
JANUARY 6, 2003
Happy New Year and all that stuff! I hope everyone's holidays were enjoyable and that you spent the time with friends and family. Or, at least, doing something you enjoy. As an update, I will be appearing at the Pasadena Xena Convention Feb. 7-9, 2003 I will be on stage on Saturday but, as most of you know, I'll be wandering around the audience areas if anyone wants to say "hi". For more info, go to the Creation webpage.
Some of you might have noticed an article in the February issue of STARLOG a small article about myself and Kevin J. Anderson. Kevin is a bestselling author, his many works include the continuation of the DUNE series as well as adaptations of the X-FILES and JEDI ACADEMY. His new series of books, THE SAGA OF THE SEVEN SUNS is flying off the shelves. Kevin is also penning the novelization of the new movie THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN. Kevin and I became friends a few years ago and one day, over lunch, he told me about a new book he was about to publish. It was called CAPTAIN NEMO, THE FANTASTIC HISTORY OF A DARK GENIUS. The most popular of Jules Verne's characters, the book was Kevin's telling of Nemo's life story as he experienced many of the stories that Verne later wrote about. I loved the idea and wanted to see it brought to the screen in some form. As a result, I optioned Kevin's book and, in association with Gabriel Grunfeld (Producer of "The Stepford Wives" remake) we hope to get it off the ground soon.
To find out more about Kevin J. Anderson, visit his website.
AUGUST 14, 2002
Unfortunately, it looks as if I will NOT be appearing at Dragoncon 2002. Because of the nature of the business I am in, I must stay in Los Angeles during that time. Development of new series is a seasonal thing for the Networks and August and September are the crucial months. For the last six years, I have been already working on series, so the development seasons weren't really that important. I had been hoping to get a little bit of time to go to the Con, but it's not working out. I must stay here for the inevitable meetings. My apologies to all.
JUNE 8, 2002
I'll be appearing at Dragoncon 2002, August 30th thru September 2nd, as of this writing. I'm not sure just yet what my schedule will be or what panels I'll be on. Missy Good has offered some time for me and I have been tempted to repeat, in greater detail, my panel from a few years ago, where I did a "story meeting" much as we used to do on Xena. If it works out, I may do a workshop to highlight what it takes to create, sell, and produce a fantasy/sci-fi series. If that happens, the information will be posted here.
Added Big Bear photos to gallery.
MAY 22, 2002
Added photo "Ghosts"
MARCH 18, 2002
Added some new pictures to the photo albums and rearranged the pages a bit.
MARCH 14, 2002
Doing a "What's New" page is a little strange to me, but I'll give it a shot.
The following is taken from an e-mail that I sent to the Tyldi-pops list (if you don't know, don't ask!).
Let's see... what kind of update can I give you? As
you know, Sheena has gone the way of... well, of most series eventually. I'm
very proud of the series and the people I worked with. John Allen Nelson and
I are quite good friends now. Kevin Quigley and I have been friends for
years already. Margo and I would probably hang out a lot, except she's in
Atlanta. And Gena is off getting her life together after Sheena with a new
career. So, as much as we all wanted it to continue, it ended well as far as
making friends and launching things.
Still, I miss them all.
So as far as me... well, just after the show went on "hiatus", I took a cross
country trip, driving through 26 states in 31 days. We truly have an
incredible country. During the trip, I stopped in at DragonCon. Then spent
a few days in Florida before heading north. I was supposed to have been in
Washington, D.C., but decided to detour to Wiliamsburg and delay the D.C.
trip for a few days. The morning I was to leave for D.C. was the morning of
September 11th. I had to cancel my plans in D.C. and travel around the city.
Thank goodness I was driving, or I would have been stuck where I was. Still,
even if I had, it would have been a small problem in comparison to the event
and the people who lost their lives.
Anyway, I made my way back to California. Back to a house I bought three
years ago, yet never had a chance to move into. So I'm going through all the
boxes trying to find places for things. Do you guys know how much XENA stuff
I have???? I'm taking about everything from pictures and toys to gifts fans
gave me to the invitation to the first Xena wrap party (the invitation is a
rubber swimming cap, believe it or not!). Well, well, I guess I'll just
start tossing things out... (right!) I also managed to get a few souveniers
from Sheena. I wanted to get the neon signs from Cutter's Bar that said
"Cutter's Run". Unfortunately, after shipping, all I got was a couple of
Africa Continent Cut Outs packed in broken glass! Oh, well. I did get one
of Gena's outfits (no, it doesn't fit me) and an assortment of spears and
shields. Oh, yes, and also the Maltaka Flag. Haven't figured out exactly
when to fly it, though.
The Pasadena Xena Convention was interesting, to say the least. As I'm sure
you have all heard, Kevin Smith was killed in a tragic accident. We all knew
he was hospitalized, but heard the news that he had died while at the
convention. It was a very somber time. But I tried to remind everyone that
these conventions are for people to show their love and appreciation for a
television show and the people who created it. And that included, to no
small degree, Kevin. So they should celebrate what he gave to us. It helped
some, I think, but it didn't hold back the tears. Bruce put it well, though.
He said that at least we were all together when it happened, not just the
people who worked on the series, but the fans who loved it. I think that
helped a lot.
As for business, I'm working on several things. I get a little reluctant
talking about them because they are just projects I am pursuing, not projects
that have been bought yet. This is the in-between time with TV shows. The
pilots have been bought and the staffing is just starting. For my level
(Exec Producer) the hiring for most of the shows has already been done. So I
may have to wait out this season.
I am writing a script for a new series, but it really is just something I am
doing for my own fun. After I'm done, I'll decide whether to take it out or
not. It's called "Better Angel" and, no, it's not about Heaven. It's a
sci-fi comedy-adventure. And, as I said, it's more for me than anyone else.
Also in my job jar, I have "Elephant Memories" which is a father-son story, a
drama. Which is a HUGE departure from what I am known for.
I also am in the process of acquiring the rights to Kevin J. Anderson's
recent book, "Captain Nemo, the Fantastic History of a Dark Genius" It's a
GREAT telling of the biography of Andre Nemo, from the Jules Verne classic
books. There has been a lot of interest in the book from the world of Film.
But Hollywood has been tightening up as of late (getting lazy, in my opinion)
so new projects are harder to get off the ground.
MAJOR NON-SEQUITER! - If you are anywhere near Austin, Minnesota, you have
GOT to go to the SPAM museum! I kid you not, it was a HOOT!
Okay, back to the update. What else? Oh, yeah. Hourglass. As many know,
Alex Tydings and Claudia Christian came up with an idea for a series called
HOURGLASS. They had asked me a long time ago if I would be interested in it.
At that time, I was gearing up Sheena, so I couldn't take it on. But I
liked the idea, so I tried to give it as much help as I could. At this
moment, the project is still alive and going through the studio system. It
has had a lot of interest, but it hasn't sold yet. My participation in it is
pending many other factors. My main motivation right now is just to see it
get done! It's a fun idea and Alex and Claudia make a great team. And it's
fun working with them. For example, at one meeting we had, I was telling the
person we were meeting with that we all knew each other and I said something
like "I like Alex and Claudia and I'd love to do something with them"
Without missing a beat, Claudia said something like "And we'd love to get
done by you"
At the least, it will make a great "tell all" book!
